BOOKCLUB : SUMMER AT LITTLE BEACH STREET BAKERY

May Read : Is Polly happy in Mount Polbearne after all?
Is Polly meant to settle down in Mount Polbearne? Or has it been a terrible mistake to purchase the big old lighthouse? Is her happy ever after there, on the island?
And what about Neil the puffin?

Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery is a sequel to the very lovely Little Beach Street Bakery, by Jenny Colgan. She is by far one of my most favourite authors. Jenny Colgan really has the ability to put magic into her words and breathe life into her stories. I can't stop loving all her books.

As the title implies, this sequel is set in a summer on the little island. Contrary to the more relaxed first book in the series, this book has its plot take a downhill slide into quite a tense turn of events.

Polly loses her job at the bakery and has to make some really tough decisions on finding ways to keep  baking and somehow able to get by. She and her hunk of a boyfriend, Huckle are forced into a long-distance relationship which means Polly is left all alone in the big lighthouse she just bought.

There're a few other conflicts in this book but I shall not dive into those here. Generally I find this book to be a bit stressful compared to its predecessor; Little Beach Street Bakery. This is just my personal opinion, and I believe some people might not think the same.

But of course, it was a very lovely read and i enjoyed it very much. I am yet to get my hands on the next sequel in the series, Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery. It's on my book wishlist!
